मिशन इंद्रधनुष 2026: बच्चों और माताओं के लिए मुफ्त टीकाकरण
Quick facts: Free vaccinations under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) · targets 12 preventable diseases · covers children 0-5 years + pregnant women · Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) focuses on unreached households · Anganwadi/ASHA-led · helpline 1800-180-1104.
Launched in December 2014 and regularly revitalized as Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) — currently IMI 5.0 (2023-27) — the mission targets India’s vaccine-preventable childhood disease mortality. The government provides all UIP vaccines free of charge, and mission-mode campaigns actively reach under-immunized households in 500+ priority districts. As of 2026, full-immunization coverage among Indian children stands at ~85% — up from 62% when the mission began.

Minimal documentation:
- MCP (Mother-Child Protection) card — given at first ANC visit; track all vaccines here

Even without documents, vaccination is free — health facility cannot refuse a child for lack of paperwork.
ASHA / ANM / Anganwadi Worker — Your Point of Contact
- ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) — tracks your child’s immunization, reminds you of upcoming doses
- ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) — delivers vaccines at VHND
- Anganwadi Worker — records attendance, coordinates with ASHA
All three work together to track every child in the village.
How to Track Your Child’s Status
Option 1: MCP Card
- All vaccines recorded here at each visit — keep safe
- Bring to every visit
Option 2: U-WIN (Digital Vaccination Registry)
As of 2024-25 rollout, India has the U-WIN portal — similar to CoWIN but for routine childhood vaccines.
- Open https://uwin.mohfw.gov.in
- Register with mother’s mobile OTP
- View child’s vaccination history
- Download digital vaccination certificate

FAQ — Common Questions
My child missed a vaccine. What do I do? Visit the nearest Anganwadi / sub-centre — catch-up doses are given free at any age until the child’s 5th birthday. Most missed doses don’t lose their protective value; discuss the catch-up schedule with ANM.
Is Mission Indradhanush different from Universal Immunization Programme? UIP is the ongoing routine vaccination programme. Mission Indradhanush is a campaign-mode drive that accelerates UIP coverage in under-immunized areas. Both provide the same free vaccines.
Are there any vaccines that cost money in government facilities? UIP vaccines (the 12 core diseases) are entirely free. Some recommended optional vaccines (e.g., typhoid, HPV for girls, influenza) may not be in UIP and often paid at private clinics. In select states, HPV has been integrated into UIP (free).
What if the vaccine causes a reaction? Mild reactions (slight fever, soreness at injection site) are common and normal. Serious reactions are rare but possible — report to the ANM immediately. ASHA workers are trained to respond and transport to a hospital if needed.
Can adults get catch-up vaccinations under UIP? Not through UIP. Adult vaccination is outside UIP’s scope. Adults can get vaccinated at private clinics (influenza, typhoid, pneumococcal, etc.) or via special govt drives (COVID-19, for example).
Does the MCP card expire? No. Keep it safe for 5+ years — it’s the authoritative record of your child’s vaccination history and often requested at school admissions.
