The Mahtari Vandan Yojana (महतारी वंदन योजना — “honouring the mother”) is Chhattisgarh’s flagship women’s cash-transfer scheme, launched on 1 March 2024 by the state government. Modelled loosely on MP’s Ladli Behna, the scheme transfers ₹1,000 every month directly to eligible married women’s bank accounts. Mandatory
- Resident of Chhattisgarh
- Married woman (including widow, divorcee, abandoned wife)
- Age 21 years or above on 1 January of the year of application
- Aadhaar card with Aadhaar-seeded bank account
Exclusions
- Family has a Government employee (regular, contractual, pensioner)
- Family has an income-tax payer
- Family owns a tractor or 4-wheeler (2-wheeler is OK)
- Family has more than 5 acres of irrigated land or more than 10 acres of unirrigated land
- Women receiving ₹1,000 or more from any other central/state monthly scheme

पंजीकरण प्रक्रिया — How to Register
Unlike some schemes that require online self-registration, Mahtari Vandan is registered through your local Anganwadi Kendra — which ensures every eligible woman is identified and assisted, including those without digital access.
- Visit your nearest Anganwadi Kendra (village) or Urban Welfare Centre (city/town)
- Carry your Aadhaar + bank passbook + photos + marriage proof
- The Anganwadi worker fills the online form on mahtarivandan.cgstate.gov.in using your details
- Live photograph captured on site (mobile-based)
- You receive an acknowledgment slip with your application reference
- Verification completes within 30-45 days; approved women start receiving ₹1,000 in the next monthly cycle (typically credited on the 1st of each month)

Payment Schedule and Method
- Monthly: ₹1,000 credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via DBT
- Date: typically 1st of each month; occasional 2-3 day delays during bank processing
- Festival bonus: the state government has in past years added bonus credits before Diwali and Holi
Total annual benefit: ₹12,000 per woman — on top of any central schemes (Ujjwala, PMAY, etc.) you may already receive.

Can a single unmarried woman apply for Mahtari Vandan Yojana?
No. The scheme is for married women, including widowed, divorced, and abandoned women. Unmarried women are not eligible under current rules.
My husband is a contractual government employee — am I eligible?
No. The exclusion applies to regular and contractual government employees. You may apply once the government employment ends.
Can I use my husband’s bank account for Mahtari Vandan?
No. The account must be in the applicant’s own name with her Aadhaar seeded to it. Open a free Jan Dhan Yojana zero-balance account if needed.
Is Mahtari Vandan registration open year-round?

I already receive another monthly cash scheme. Am I still eligible?
