Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), launched in 2015, is the flagship of India’s Skill India Mission. The scheme offers free skill training + industry-recognized certification to Indian youth — with the core goal of enabling employment in high-growth sectors. FAQ — Common Questions

Is PMKVY 100% free? Yes. All training, assessment, and certification are free. Some sectors include free boarding/lodging for out-of-town trainees. Any centre charging fees is operating in violation of scheme rules.

How does RPL work if I’m an experienced worker? You don’t need classroom training. Visit a PMKVY-authorized assessment centre for your sector (e.g., plumber, electrician). Provide 1-2 days of practical demonstration → pass → receive ₹8,000-12,000 reward + NSQF certificate.

Does a PMKVY certificate guarantee a job? Not guaranteed, but placement rates are ~60-70% for certificate holders in high-demand sectors (auto, retail, hospitality, IT-ITeS). Placement is partner-driven; active participation matters.
