FAQ — Common Questions

Is PMKVY 100% free? Yes. All training, assessment, and certification are free. Some sectors include free boarding/lodging for out-of-town trainees. Any centre charging fees is operating in violation of scheme rules.

How does RPL work if I’m an experienced worker? You don’t need classroom training. Visit a PMKVY-authorized assessment centre for your sector (e.g., plumber, electrician). Provide 1-2 days of practical demonstration → pass → receive ₹8,000-12,000 reward + NSQF certificate.

Does a PMKVY certificate guarantee a job? Not guaranteed, but placement rates are ~60-70% for certificate holders in high-demand sectors (auto, retail, hospitality, IT-ITeS). Placement is partner-driven; active participation matters.

I’m 48 years old — can I enroll? Most PMKVY courses target 15-45 age group. Some sectors (e.g., security, driving) extend to 50. RPL has fewer age restrictions (18+, open-ended).

Is PMKVY same as ITI courses? No. ITI (Industrial Training Institute) offers long-duration government-diploma courses (1-2 years) with structured syllabus. PMKVY offers short-term (3-6 months) industry-aligned courses via partnerships. Both are under MSDE but serve different student segments.

My course was complete but I haven’t received my certificate. Why? Usually assessment pending or NSDC data-upload delay. Follow up with your training centre; if unresolved after 60 days, escalate to PMKVY helpline.
